Kids Love Gymboree Play & Music Thousand Oaks’ Preschool Program

Gymboree Play & Music Thousand Oaks’ preschool program incorporates four decades of child development experience with the values and curriculum of the ZERO TO THREE organization, resulting in a high quality, fun experience for young children.

Developed by ZERO TO THREE—an organization that works to ensure babies and toddlers benefit from the early connections that are critical to their well-being and development—and taught by Gymboree teachers, the preschool program and philosophies at Gymboree Play & Music Thousand Oaks set the stage for toddlers and preschoolers to have a bright future. Each Gymboree Play & Music program is designed to be age and developmentally appropriate for preschoolers, resulting in an extremely successful program based on years of experience and expertise that centers on each child’s well-being.

The first five years of life are the most critical years of a child’s development, and Gymboree’s preschool curriculum offers opportunities for children to increase confidence and their ability to communicate and cooperate with others. These social skills lay the foundation for school success and are incorporated into Gymboree’s curriculum, designed by educational experts, with a focus on activities that build confidence, encourage curiosity, promote independent learning, and develop language, problem-solving and social skills. They accomplish this through a combination of academic practices, arts and crafts and play. Children learn letters, numbers and shapes, as well as other preschool concepts that encourage a positive introduction to an educational setting.

Gymboree’s traditional preschool curriculum includes the added benefit of 40 years of experience in early childhood development. Many people don’t realize that Gymboree Play & Music preschools are complete educational programs that result in happy, capable and school-ready children.

Gymboree offers two preschool options, by age group.

The School Skills Preschool Program for 3-5-year-olds includes a 3-hour drop-off class, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday (choose 1-3 days weekly).

The Pre-School Steps Program welcomes 2-3-year-olds and their parents for 75-minute classes, from 9 to 10:15 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays (choose 1-2 days weekly). This semi drop-off class is part of the preschool steps program that allows children to practice the separation process and ease into it, making the transition easier for children (and parents!).

More than just play, Gymboree’s preschool curriculum is used worldwide with excellent results. Designed with 50 weeks of curriculum for a full year of classes, the program embraces Gymboree’s philosophy of play, learn and explore. Top quality programs that make the most of early learning moments can be the difference between a fragile beginning and a strong start at school.
