Layered, natural and relaxed. These are the three words Amy Terry of AC Designs uses to describe her latest lake house remodel in Hot Springs. When an unexpected leak caused extensive damage to the lower level, it opened an opportunity to revive the home's style while staying loyal to what made it special in the first place.
“We’re most proud of how we were able to take an already beautiful home and thoughtfully bring it back to life,” Amy says.
Alongside the original builders, Schrader Homes, Amy and her team refreshed the interior with new furnishings, updated cabinetry, wallpaper, mirrors and layered decorative accents.
“The home is a stunning example of thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship, with beautiful details and intentional elements throughout every space.”
To honor the house’s beloved lake backdrop, the designers used organic elements, pairing grasscloth wallpaper and ceramic mosaic tiles with warm wood finishes and linen bedding. Shades of creamy brown and beige mixed with a touch of classic blue deepen the elegance of the living room, which features floor–to-ceiling windows and a long, wooden dining table surrounded by woven chairs.
Among all the revamped spaces, the bunk room gets the biggest reaction. Every wall except one is coated in a deep blue, enhancing its relaxed atmosphere. Soft ambient light glows from under the upholstered headboards, where white plaid wallpaper pops out behind the four bunk beds.
“It was definitely the most dramatic transformation in the home, and everyone seems to love how cute and inviting it feels,” she says.
Instead of reimagining the home’s entire aesthetic, the team focused on rekindling its natural charm.
“Through wallpaper, pillows, bedding, accessories and other finishing touches, we were able to restore the home they loved and make it feel even more beautiful and complete,” Amy says.
