Dr. Eric Larson gives hope and healing to his patients

How long have you been a chiropractor?

I have been practicing by myself for 23 years with 25 years experience.

Tell me about chiropractic care and why it's important?

Chiropractors are trained in detecting and correcting spinal misalignments called subluxations. The belief is, if you release the pressure of the subluxation, which is a nerve impingement caused by swelling and bone misalignment, it allows the body to function better.  This is important because the spinal column is the highway of the body in which the brain communicates to all parts of the body.

Who needs chiropractic care?

Basically, if you are breathing, you can probably benefit from chiropractic care.  From the newborn to the elderly, good chiropractic care can be beneficial, and the younger you start the better.

What is the Gonstead Technique?

With the Gonstead Technique, five different criteria are used to determine where the specific problem is in the spinal column.  Those criteria are visualization, instrumentation, static palpation, motion palpation and x-ray analysis.  With these criteria, I can pinpoint the issue and make the necessary specific adjustments to the spine.

What other services do you offer?

We offer some of the latest and greatest modalities and therapies on the market.  We offer the Summus Laser.  It's a class 4 laser preprogrammed for everything needed to treat issues such as swelling and even someone who has had spinal surgery.  Another therapy we recently added to the office is Shockwave therapy.  It's a phenomenal device used for muscle injuries ranging from muscle tears to overstressed ligaments.  It uses ultrasound to break up the scar tissue and stimulates the stem cells to release, increasing the healing process.  Shockwave also claims to have a 95% effective rate for plantar fasciitis.  We have the Back on Trac decompression chair, which uses gravity to help patients that have bulging discs in the spine.  Intersegmental traction tables are used after adjustments to promote more motion in the spinal column.  We provide Bemer therapy, which uses sound waves to open up the capillaries in the body for greater blood and oxygen flow throughout the body.  Oxygen is most important for healing.

What do you love about being a chiropractor?

I love helping people and giving them hope for having a more pain free life.  I do that by utilizing the Gonstead Technique.  It's unlike any other method of chiropractic.
