Somewhere along the way, many women begin asking themselves the same question: Can I still wear this? The founders of Last Seen Wearing believe the better question is much simpler: Does it make you feel like your best self?

For longtime friends Julie Powell and Krista Olufson, what started as a creative outlet has grown into a thriving online community helping women rediscover the joy of getting dressed. Their signature aesthetic—what they call "elevated casual"—blends everyday comfort with modern style, proving that fashion doesn't have an expiration date.

Their mission isn't about chasing every trend. It's about giving women permission to care about how they feel in their clothes again.

"We want to encourage women to be more bold, growing in confidence in all areas of their lives and feeling fabulous while they're at it," they say.

That message clearly resonates.

As women move through careers, motherhood, changing bodies and shifting priorities, personal style often gets pushed to the bottom of the list. Years pass, wardrobes stop evolving and many women find themselves wearing the same looks they've relied on for decades.

"We also picture what our moms wore at our age and think that's what we need to embrace," they explain. "There's also a bit of a vibe here in the Pacific Northwest that caring about fashion is frivolous."

But through Last Seen Wearing, they've discovered something surprising: women weren't looking for permission to buy more clothes—they were looking for permission to enjoy fashion again.

Followers regularly tell them that seeing two relatable women confidently wearing current styles has inspired them to step outside their own comfort zones. One conversation, in particular, has stayed with Krista. A woman she hadn't seen in several years shared that she often wondered whether certain trends were "too young" for her. Watching Julie and Krista wear them gave her confidence to try them herself.

"She is exactly who we are trying to reach and inspire," Krista says.

Rather than encouraging women to completely reinvent their wardrobes, the pair believes style is built through small, approachable changes. Updating shoes, adding a statement necklace or layering on a denim jacket can instantly make familiar outfits feel fresh. They also encourage women to gather inspiration before shopping, often discovering they already own many of the pieces they need.

That practical, judgment-free approach is part of what has made their platform so welcoming. Their content focuses on real life—school pickups, travel, dinner with friends and even grandma duties—showing that everyday style can still feel intentional.

Along the way, Last Seen Wearing has transformed more than their followers' closets. It has also changed Julie and Krista themselves.

They've become more adventurous with fashion, trying silhouettes, colors and trends they once would have dismissed. More importantly, they've gained confidence, learned new skills, built meaningful friendships and found a creative purpose during a new season of life as their children grew older.

Their philosophy can be summed up in one simple belief: confidence and personal style go hand in hand.

"When you feel good in an outfit, you feel more confident," they say. "You can take your focus off of yourself and possible insecurities and focus on others."

For Julie and Krista, that's the real power of getting dressed. It's never been about looking younger or following every trend. It's about showing up as the best version of yourself—at every age—and having a little fun along the way.
