Learning from the Ultimate Daily Routine

Lauryn Bosstick shares tips for optimal physical and mental health

The Skinny Confidential founder gives us a look inside her average day and her non-negotiables. The answers provide kernels of knowledge to help you level up your routine in 2025.

Walk us through wellness rituals and routines you do in a typical day…

I wake up around 7am and immediately remove the mouth tape, then tongue scrape, ice roll, open the shades and make the bed. The kids and I try to get outside right away so lately we’ve been sitting outside with books or crayons and coloring sheets and we hang out for 30 minutes to an hour.

Then I’ll do a quick morning skincare with some facial massage and get my gym clothes on. We turn on Bossanova jazz music, light Primally Pure candles and make breakfast for the kids. As soon as they’re done eating, my son and I go out for a circadian walk. He sits in the stroller and I turn on a walking meditation and we just walk.

We get time together, our movement in, and absorb the morning light. When I get home, if there’s time I’ll do the sauna for 15 minutes with a 4-minute cold plunge, then Michael and I take our daughter to school and go to the gym to see our trainer. I like to have a coffee with a couple of inches of raw milk before I work out because it’s this perfect combo of fat, carbs and protein that I think is the ideal pre-workout drink. We get our raw milk from a local farmer here in Austin.

When I get home, I’ll usually have Sunlife’s spicy bone broth and I’ll make some kind of hydration drink with electrolytes, colostrum, lemon, and aminos. While I drink this, I write out my day. I set intentions, the book I’m reading, what podcast I’ll listen to, who I’m sending good vibes to, the things I’m grateful for and any to-dos that have to get done.

Around 10:00am I get right into work mode. I get hyper-focused and pack as much as I can into the day so that I always have dedicated time to bookend the day with my family. We’re full-time working parents, so things don’t always go this way, but we try!

Things I try to do every night:

Warm eucalyptus shower: Grab some eucalyptus leaves from the farmer’s market, rinse them off, roll over them with a rolling pin to release aromas, then use a hair tie to wrap it around your shower head. Your steamy shower will create the most spa-like experience. Dim the lights and only use a salt rock night light to up the ambiance. I use Flamingo Estates body wash because I love the earthy smell.

When I get out I’ll use Primally Pure’s almond vanilla body butter and sculpt with The Skinny Confidential Body Sculptor. I’ve noticed such a difference in my cellulite and muscle tone since I started using it. And it just feels good after a warm shower. (I usually dry brush in the morning before I shower).

After this I’ll do my skincare in the warm light of the salt rock light while I listen to Louise Hay or a chime machine and take fish oil and Arrae Magnesium. Depending on what I had for dinner, I’ll also take Arrae’s bloat capsules. Their concoction of natural herbs just works. It makes such a difference if you’re prone to feeling puffy and bloated after meals.

Weighted neck pillow: My new addiction. You can warm it in the microwave, but I recently got a salon warmer and it works perfectly. So, at night I’ll grab Pique ginger digestive tea with some raw honey from the farmer’s market, a book, put my feet up and sit there with my warm neck pillow. It’s the most relaxing experience. If you’re looking for a good book I’ve recently read these and highly recommend: Green Lights, The Greatest Salesman in the World, and Mr. and Mrs. American Pie.

We go to bed early and I make sure I’m asleep by 10 pm. For us, the bedroom is for sleeping, so we don’t have a TV in ours.  As a little treat I always eat a piece of Hu dark chocolate almond crunch when I’m in bed. It’s become a ritual at the end of the night.

People always ask me how I have time for all of this. And I ask them right back, ‘How much time are you spending consuming other people’s content instead of focusing on your own life?’

Through all of this, my top tip for winding down is to end your night with positivity and only things that are inspiring and uplifting. I truly believe the last thing you consume before going to sleep affects your dreams and your subconscious so make sure you’re thoughtful about what you’re looking at.

You do a lot to optimize your mental and physical health. What are a few of your non-negotiables?

Mouth taping at night. Mouth tape has changed my life. After using it every single night for a year I’ve noticed brighter eyes, a sculpted jawline, a stronger chin profile, and so much energy in the morning. And of course, the deepest sleep I’ve ever had. If you’re new to mouth tape, check out beginner tips on TheSkinnyConfidential.com to help you get used to nasal breathing.

Some other things I do because they make the biggest difference for me personally are: cold plunge, barrel sauna, ice rolling the second I get up, facial manipulation and scalp care (I always pull my hair up by the handful to stimulate my scalp and stretch the fascia in my face), dry brushing and hydration (electrolytes and colostrum, always). And, my absolute number one non-negotiable is moving my body. Whether I meet my trainer at the gym, do Pvolve or classical Pilates, or do a video at home, it gives me a clear head and makes a noticeable difference to my mental health.

There are also some really purposeful boundaries with the phone. I associate it with work so as soon as 7pm hits, I want to throw it across the room. Regarding time, I say no to a lot. Also, I don’t respond to messages right away. There are certain times in the day that I respond because I wait until I have time and can be more thoughtful. There’s so much pressure around responding right away and I believe we all deserve a bit of grace when it comes to replying to people. The content you consume matters too. I’m very careful what I’m consuming and it has to be inspiring, entertaining or informative.  And, sleeping is serious in our household. I get 8-9 hours a night and I like to optimize it.

I think of my wellness like my business. I don’t get it right every day, but it’s all about trying your best. When you feel good, you perform better.
