It’s wonderful to have a holiday like Thanksgiving; a collective opportunity to focus on gratitude. This month’s issue reflects so much of what we appreciate in life.
So now I’m going to list the stuff that bugs me. I know it’s not festive, but without rain, how can we appreciate sunshine?
Here’s a list of things for which I’m not, you know, thankful:
- Catching air as I blow over an unpainted, therefore unnoticed, speed bump (Yes, I realize the irony in this.)
- Feeling my soul deplete as I idle in the Saugatuck clot. And the Steinkraus Cohen bridge clot. And the Post Road clot. And the North Avenue clot(s).
- People who are rude to waitstaff. Just… it’s not an easy job. Try to be understanding.
- The guy in Westport Library who doesn’t understand we can all hear him talking on his cell phone. Good news everyone - his prostate’s fine.
- When the cheapest wine-by-the-glass is $20.
- Salespeople who closely monitor their iPhones while - throwing it out there - a manager might expect them to help customers.
- The direct correlation between my teens getting their drivers’ license and the uptick in fast food charges on my credit card.
Okay, I’m stopping here. It feels good to vent because holidays are never perfectly joyous, right? Despite my grievances, there are restaurants with less expensive wine and employees with a great work ethic.
If nothing else, there's that guy with a great prostate.
