For three years in a row, Cobb EMC, a member-owned electric cooperative in Marietta, ranked #1 in the nation for reliability, is lighting up the region with a tour of enchanting Christmas light-strung homes powered by none other than Cobb EMC. The tour will kick off with the spectacular lighting of the Cobb EMC Solar Flower Garden and corporate campus on November 30 from 6- to 8 p.m. Until Christmas day, participating homes across the energy provider's five-county service territory will be illuminated every night for the public to enjoy. "We invite you and your family to experience the joy of the holiday season and the spirit of giving by visiting all of the homes on our Holiday Light Tour and voting in the contest on Cobb EMC's Facebook page," encourages Mike Codichini, Cobb EMC's Director of Member and Public Relations. "Now in our third year, we hope this becomes a tradition for many families and makes your holiday season bright."
The Holiday Light Tour is just one aspect of Cobb EMC's greater mission to give back to the communities serviced beyond just supplying them with power. They're driven to put the cooperative principle of "Concern for Community" into action. All year, Cobb EMC participates in hands-on volunteering, mentoring, food pantry donations, foundation grants and more, and the Holiday Light Tour is no exception.
The homes on the tour compete against each other for a $500 charity donation of their choice provided by Cobb EMC. To vote for their favorite house, residents can "like" their photo on Cobb EMC Facebook page anytime during the tour. The top three homes that receive the most likes will be crowned the winners after Christmas.
"The community has truly driven this contest, and we have received many votes from the public for the hard work put into these Cobb EMC-powered homes," says Mike. "Since the winners receive a donation to non-profits of their choosing, the contest is extra special to all of us."
