A bright addition to the Omaha Metro launched in April 2023 when the Kiewit Luminarium opened its doors. Since then, more than 380,000 visitors from near and far have enjoyed the new science center as they have learned in this fun and interactive environment.
“Kiewit Luminarium is a space of learning and wonder for everyone, where visitors of all ages and backgrounds can find something that sparks their curiosity and creates new pathways for how they see and think about and interact with the world,” said Silva Raker, CEO of the Luminarium, in a press release. "We’re elated to be learning and growing alongside our community.”
Located in the Lewis & Clark Landing at the RiverFront, just east of the CHI Health Center, the Luminarium boasts more than 125 interactive exhibits that explore the senses and scientific advances while kindling curiosity in the minds of all ages.
Guests can enjoy unique features such as The Grid, a two-story demonstration of all that goes into the daily care of our belongings and communities. Meanwhile, children of all ages can enjoy the massive, immersive Geometry Playground to learn about shapes.
For those who want to light up their evenings, the Luminarium hosts an adults-only event each Thursday beginning at 7 p.m.
Between daily demonstrations at its Maker Space, engaging and seasonal exhibits, and fresh food and drink offerings at Fig. Café, the result is a place for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the intersection of science, art, and human perception.
