From Music education major to behavioral therapist for autistic children to beside nursing to launching her own business called, “That’s My Nurse.” Liz Walker can just about do it all. She is a South Carolina native passionate about helping people better understand what is going on with their health. Walker desired to do something about the problem she was seeing in healthcare.

“Last year God told me to step away from what I was doing and become the solution to the problem I was seeing. So I left my previous job in September of 2021 and got my LLC and started my business, full-time.” She started in September of 2021 and got her first client at the beginning of November of 2021.

Walker’s services include personalized programs to help her clients better manage their health and the conditions they may have. She has a Concierge Health and Wellness Program, which is a personalized program to the client and their needs. She usually has clients of the 65 year and older age where the level of health literacy is 3% and they are not always able to understand what they are diagnosed with. Walker is a strong believer in, “If you are living with a condition, you should know it as well as the doctor does.” The program knows their health conditions, medications, and ordered diet. As well it just overall helps them better understand their condition.

She also serves as an advocate for her clients when they visit their doctor, by going along with them to their appointments, whether is it to help them remember new information or questions they may have had prior to the appointment. Walker serves as a liaison between the doctor and the patient. She also checks vitals to take with them to the doctors office to get a better read for the doctors; in case they stray from their average vital signs because of anxiety or any other factors. They serve as an extension of Primary Care Physicians.

She also created a comprehensive care plan with attainable goals to incentivize and celebrate with them to encourage them to do what will help them deal better with their condition. Care Coordination Services are offered as well, this is where they chart their health care alongside scheduling appointments and keeping them on top of them. Lastly she offers nurse consultations. This is to help clients figure out what is going on, ask questions that a nurse can help with, and also advise them if they need to seek other care.

Ultimately, Liz Walker is focused on patient-centered healthcare. Her goal is to empower people to take charge of their own health, to know that they have the patient’s bill of rights and to advocate for themselves. If you know anyone who would benefit from knowing and being in touch with Liz, she is available and waiting for you to call.
