Life is not meant to be all figured out in your twenties. We chase dreams, stumble, find our footing and learn, slowly, who we are and what matters. Somewhere along that winding journey, if we’re fortunate, we land rooted in purpose, love and a spark that makes life feel extraordinary. For Mike and Wendy Edwards of Acoustic Honey, that’s exactly how their story unfolded.
Their soundtrack began in the mid-90s with Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” echoing through a lively Italian restaurant in Alpharetta. By day, they powered through college with Wendy polishing her communication skills while Mike studied sports medicine. By night, they served endless salads, laughed with coworkers and quietly fell deeper in love. Through it all, music would beat steadily at the heart of their relationship.
Mike wasn’t just dabbling in music, he was immersed in it. His band kept Buckhead alive night after night and he spent weekends packing college towns until sunrise, even releasing an LP in 1999. Soon, Mike and Wendy would perform together in a band for the first time. Mike would perform amazing solos as lead guitar and Wendy’s harmonies would light up venues like Smith’s Old Bar during the buzzing era that launched artists like John Mayer and Shawn Mullins. “Looking back, it really was quite a magical time for music in Atlanta,” Mike recalls.
As life evolved and the couple married, Wendy thrived in real estate while they poured their creativity into building and renovating homes, a path that ultimately led them back to Roswell in 2007. Now with three kids and Mike’s constant travel for work, the family made a bold choice. Instead of letting life pull them apart, they would take it on the road. For seven unforgettable years, they lived, worked, learned, and explored in an RV, crossing the country 31 times, visiting 43 states, and soaking in the beauty of America’s national parks. Through it all, Mike’s guitar traveled with them, gathering strangers around campfires and filling quiet nights with music beneath open skies.
Eventually, that chapter closed as life transitioned again. A move to Downtown Roswell, another renovation, and three kids entering school during a global pandemic brought change, a “little bit of crazy” and a fresh spark for something new. Mike returned to performing, but something still felt incomplete. Wendy began harmonizing during rehearsals for fun and everything just clicked. One open mic turned into brewery shows, then regular gigs for the duo. Rebranded as Acoustic Honey, they’re now pouring heart, fun, and creative energy into every performance as they play beloved hits from every era around the Atlanta area. Wendy relays, “We’ve loved playing great local spots like Gate City Brewing and Stone House Tap, and we’re excited to bring our music to wineries, lively breweries, and whatever adventures the new year brings, because life’s too short to play background music in your own story.”
