“Every age group enjoys it; sometimes the kids don’t cry when the parents say, ‘let’s go to Stonehaus!’” chuckles Notter, who oversaw the transformation of the property from a gas station to a European-flavored oasis.
The picturesque vineyard at the corner of Lakeview Canyon and Agoura Road began the development of the landmark 17-acre Westlake Village complex.
“I remember when it was just a gas station,” says Maria Solorzano, director of sales, marketing and PR for the property, who helped bring Notter’s vision for the land to life. “Inspired by his travels to Saint-Tropez, Mr. Notter envisioned a vibrant gathering place, so he planted a vineyard. I knew we needed to enhance that vision with luxurious hotel accommodations and inviting spaces for events. Today, with The Stonehaus, we’ve created a culinary sanctuary where guests can enjoy exceptional coffee by day and exquisite wines by night, all set against the backdrop of our beautiful vineyard.”
The stately wrought iron gates at the property entrance welcome guests to immerse themselves in the elegant European-style surroundings, including the Westlake Village Inn, Mediterraneo, Louie’s, Spa Relais and The Stonehaus. Strolling through the cobblestone grounds on meandering lush pathways leads visitors around a swan-filled lake, past soothing waterfalls and flowing fountains, and through verdant vineyards, where they can soak up the Tuscan vibe before relaxing with a glass of The Stonehaus wine or one of the many boutique wines available and a mouthwatering meal.
Eat, Drink and Be Merry
With a focus on fresh local ingredients, The Stonehaus, Mediterraneo, Louie’s and Westlake Village Inn offer a selection of healthy fare 7 days a week. Start the day with fresh-baked muffins, bagels, sandwiches and pastries for breakfast at The Stonehaus. For lunch and dinner, there’s made to order pizzas cooked in an outdoor pizza oven; a selection of salads, soups and sandwiches; and charcuterie assortments of fresh salumi, prosciutto and fromaggi.
Wine flights feature boutique wines from around the world, including private labels. Craft beers and cordials are also on tap.
Live entertainment and special events create opportunities for the community to come together and celebrate. This month, The Stonehaus Family Christmas takes place on December 15.
