If there is one thing the pandemic has done, it’s to increase the need for more outdoor living space. This means merging the indoor and outdoor spaces together and making the most of useful spaces year-round. This is great for those still working from home. We continue to see a big push for covered spaces that can remain open or enclosed with screens or windows. We have also had many requests for changing a window to a bifold or sliding door that increases the square footage of usable living space.
Another big trend is the al fresco outdoor kitchen for grilling, smoking, refrigeration and storage. The design allows for plenty of serving space and room for a pizza oven. We are also seeing more and more homeowners move away from materials that require maintenance to more sustainable, green materials.
Composite decking has come a long way in recent years with many beautiful colors and texture options. As with indoor color trends, we are seeing the same for outside, with a focus on earth tone colors, blending grays and beige.
This project really does encompass all the outdoor living trends. I love that it has several different gathering areas with two being covered. It has sustainable materials, retractable screens, a fire feature, an outdoor kitchen and panoramic doors to extend indoor living space.
