The start of a new year always brings the feeling of a fresh start. A fresh new year can bring fresh ideas, fresh plans, and maybe even some fresh new goals. A very popular resolution in the new year is to get healthier. If that is your goal, you’ll want to hear what Gina Van Luven—owner of Prime IV Hydration & Wellness and a board-certified health coach— has to say. Gina believes that stress can play a huge part in overall health, so she shared her tried and true remedies to help manage stress.

Question: What would be the first step in trying to manage stress?

Get more sleep! Most people need 7-9 hours of quality sleep, which means going past REM and into deep sleep. There are wearable products that can track sleep quality, if you’re wondering where you are with your sleep.

Question: What are some aspects that are probably overlooked but can really help manage stress?

Movement – Stagnation is the opposite of health. Get moving any way you can, whether it’s chair exercises, a walk, or something more vigorous. You can try “grounding”— walking barefoot in some grass (as long as it is pesticide-free), dirt, or sand— can help to calm the sympathetic nervous system. If you can’t go barefoot, just walking in nature with trees can elicit a similar response. Try some deep breathing–taking several very deep breaths— throughout the day, it can help calm the nervous system.

Question: How can Prime IV help?

Better stress management leads to a healthier immune system, better mood and concentration, fewer symptoms, and feeling more balanced overall. At Prime IV Hydration & Wellness we offer IV and injection therapies to deliver nutrients directly to your blood stream and hydrate the body.
