Reimagining Date Night

Simple Solutions for Stress-Free Connection in Your Marriage

Many of us have heard the advice over and over to “never stop dating our spouse.”

Making time to connect with our significant other is foundational to our marriage.

Yet, it can be hard to make time for date night.

Usually, when thinking of date night, the first thing that pops into our head is the logistics. We need a sitter, a reservation, dinner for the kids ... We need a few HOURS to make this happen.

Oftentimes, date nights can lead to more stress, making it harder to enjoy our time together.

The amount of planning that goes into a traditional date night makes them a rare treat rather than a regular occurrence.

This is why we’re reimagining date night (or day)

Easier logistics will lead to less stress. This means better connection (because we’re more relaxed) AND more consistency (because planning is easy).

One of the easiest ways we find to connect is through a simple walk paired up with coffee.

For starters, we can often make time for this while the kids are at school, so we don’t need a sitter.

The logistics are pretty simple ... head to your favorite trail and start strolling. The fresh air, change of scenery and light activity will relax your mind. The conversation will flow in this relaxed state.

After the trail, grab a cup of coffee and finish the conversation that was started while walking.

If we look at the purpose of date night, it’s to relax and connect on a regular basis.

Keeping it simple removes a lot of the barriers that hold us back from keeping date night (or day) a regular part of our schedule.
