Lyrics for Life is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference in the fight against pediatric cancer. Founded by Sister Hazel's frontman Ken Block and his bandmates, the charity honors the memory of Ken's younger brother Jeffrey, who bravely battled cancer from age 14 until his passing at age 18.
The organization brings together physicians, celebrities, and musicians to host concerts, auctions, and other fundraising events. The funds raised are donated to groups working to cure cancer and those enhancing the lives of patients and their families. By supporting summer camps, family programs, and other patient-focused initiatives, Lyrics for Life tackles this disease from every angle, aiming to make each day brighter for those affected.
Artists contribute in unique ways, often by donating handwritten lyrics to one of their songs on unusual items such as surfboards, journals, or posters. These one-of-a-kind creations are auctioned at Lyrics for Life events, generating critical funds while celebrating creativity.
Fueled by personal experiences of loss, the organization’s volunteers, sponsors, and musicians are committed to raising awareness and funds for this vital cause. Their mission is not only to support research but also to create events that are fun, meaningful, and inspiring.
Sister Hazel's Lyrics for Life event is coming up on Saturday, March 8th, 2025, at the Curtis M. Phillips Center on the University of Florida campus. Doors open at 7 PM, and the show starts at 8 PM.
