Created By God On Purpose, For A Purpose

Medina Christian Academy, a local private school that offers a Christ-centered education for children from preschool to high school graduation, is built upon the belief that every student is created by God on purpose, for a purpose.

Their mission is to grow each student through excellence in academics, discipleship and service to the glory of God. This is something that Head of School, Joe Timco, takes very seriously, believing that his job as Medina Christian Academy's leader is more than just a position.

"It's more than just a job," Joe says. "It's a mission; it's a calling."

Joe, a Medina County native, says this feeling is shared amongst each and every member of the Medina Christian Academy board and staff.  "Relationships are everything, and our teachers are the relationship builders – both in and outside of the classroom. They build relationships with our students, as well as their parents. We consider all parents as our partners. We have the same values they do and want to see their child succeed as a Disciple of Christ."

Joe goes on to explain that whether it's in the classroom or on a mission trip, the Medina Christian Academy faculty and staff are dedicated to helping children grow in all areas of life: spiritually, academically, artistically and athletically.

Part of what makes each member of the faculty and staff so special is their dedication to helping students discover their God-given gifts in a Christ-centered environment. Joe describes the teachers as a "living curriculum." This means that they, as followers of Christ, have the ability to help students cultivate a relationship with God and His truth so that they can better understand how to carry out God’s purpose in their lives and impact the world.

Medina Christian Academy also offers a large selection of AP and college preparatory classes for its students to enroll in. Additionally, they have a partnership with Malone University, allowing students to take classes on MCA’s campus and receive college credit.

In addition to their exceptional curriculum, Medina Christian Academy offers a plethora of extracurricular activities. Their athletic program consists of fall, spring and winter sports, including boys basketball, soccer, cross country and baseball, girls volleyball, basketball and cross country, cheerleading, coed track and more.

The arts and media program gives students space to creatively express God's story in their lives. It includes everything from visual performing arts, drawing and painting arts, video production, photography, yearbook, worship team, choir and more. In the Theatre club, students participate in musicals, plays, improv exercises and skits during chapel and school programs. Past Medina Christian Academy productions include “Beauty and the Beast Jr.," “Our Place" and “Mary Poppins Jr.”

Medina Christian Academy also provides its students the opportunity to carry their knowledge and love of the gospel outside of school and into the community. One of the ways they do this is through annual mission trips. These trips anchor students to their faith, creating space for God to work in and through their lives. Previous mission trips have taken middle and high school-aged students at Medina Christian Academy to Philadelphia, Syracuse and Chicago, and juniors and seniors will culminate their mission work by serving in the Dominican Republic.

With a curriculum grounded in Christ and extracurriculars that foster the prosperity of each students' unique, God-given gifts, it's no wonder that Medina Christian Academy has experienced 333% percent growth in their middle and high schools in the last three years. And as if that isn't exciting enough, Medina Christian Academy is currently undergoing one very large and exciting change.

"We are currently transitioning into our new building and campus," says Joe. "Phase one will take place this fall, where we will move all of our middle and high school-aged students into the upper school at the new campus. Phase two and three will take place shortly after, and will include developing athletic facilities and moving our elementary-aged students. It's all a process based on our capital campaign. The expansion is an exciting undertaking, and Medina Christian Academy continues to seek God’s wisdom and guidance throughout. There are still opportunities for community members to join in the mission with gifts of donations, services or volunteering."

The new Medina Christian Academy campus is located at 5399 River Styx Road, Medina, Ohio 44256, which is right outside of the Medina city limits and is easily accessible from surrounding communities.

"It really feels like a college campus," says Joe. "It has a beautiful courtyard, unique classrooms and even a coffee bar."
