Wim Hof, aka The Iceman, has been preaching the benefits of cold water immersion for years. More recently, the practice has seeped into the wellness community and withstanding freezing temperatures for an average of three minutes has become a popular practice with benefits including enhanced circulation, reduced muscle inflammation and improved recovery. Wellness enthusiasts who can afford them will spend $5,000-$10,000 or more to have one in their home for daily use. Rather than spend a fortune to freeze, you can make your own cold plunge from a meat freezer for much less. Athlete Jonathan Cervi shared a now viral step-by-step video on TikTok. He tells Austin Lifestyle he started by buying a freezer from Best Buy for under $400 and a $35 temperature controller for optimal regulation. He says, “If you are considering going for it—do it. Life’s short and investing in your health is always a good idea.” Find his video on TikTok !jonathancervi.
