Ways to Give Back with Local Non-Profits this Holiday Season

Cy-Fair Helping Hands 

In November, Cy-Fair Helping hands gives Thanksgiving Blessings Boxes to struggling families who already receive help via their Food Pantry. If the donations are plentiful enough, this will be open to the public. Each family receives a $25 - $30 gift card for a turkey or ham, and Cy-Fair Helping Hands provides all of the side dishes. 

In December, for Christmas, CFHH hosts a client Christmas party for families who are struggling financially. Each person receives a gift, plus a hot meal, visits with Santa, and activities. Donations needed: Toys for all ages, gift cards for the teens, and household items for the parents. 

In addition CFHH has a Homeless Blessings Tree where the homeless people who come to CFHH can include three wishes for items they would like for Christmas. Those wishes can be selected on site at 9204 Emmott Road.

Needed Donations:

  • $25-30 Grocery Gift Cards for Turkey/Ham (please attach receipt)

  • Stuffing Mix

  • Turkey Gravy

  • Canned Cream of Mushroom/Cream of Chicken Soup/Chicken Broth

  • Instant Boxed Mashed Potatoes

  • Boxed Macaroni and Cheese

  • Canned Corn

  • Canned Green Beans

  • Canned Peas

  • Canned Sweet Potatoes

  • Canned Cranberry Sauce

  • Canned Apple, Cherry, Peach Pie Filling

  • Boxed Jiffy Pie Crust Mix (no premade crusts, please)

  • Boxed Jiffy Cornbread Mix

Volunteers are needed to pack the Thanksgiving boxes, and are welcome throughout the season. For more information on donations needed and for volunteering please visit CFHH online.

Cypress Assistance Ministries

Merriment @ The Ministry with Cypress Assistance Ministries

Food, household items, toiletries, gift cards and unwrapped/new toy donations (for all ages 0-18) as well as many volunteers are needed to make Merriment @ The Ministry possible.

Thanksgiving Food 

Distribution Days are November 21, 22, 25 & 26 

CAMs Food Pantry is hosting a Drive-thru Food Fair on October 19 and November 16, and a December date TBD. 

Toy Distribution is December 17-19 Client registration for food and toys is required for those in need of assistance, and begins October 21.

Donations can be dropped off at CAM, located at 12930 Cypress North Houston Rd, Cypress, TX 77429. Monday-Wednesday from 9am – 5pm and Thursday-Friday from 9am – 3pm.

Food Donations:

  • Small Turkeys (10-12 pounds)

  • Stuffing mix

  • Cornbread mix

  • Yams

  • Gravy

  • Canned pumpkin

  • Canned broth

  • Cranberry sauce

  • Canned soup

  • Baking goods, such as flour, sugar, cookie & cake mixes, pie crusts, pie filling 

  • Toiletry items such as dish soap, laundry detergent, and personal hygiene items are also really needed

Toys/Gifts Donations:

New, unwrapped toys, games, puzzles (0 – 12 years). Teen gifts (ages 13-17 years) also unwrapped & new. Note: there is always more needed for this and the split between small children and teens is about 50/50. 

Be a part of CAMs Angel Tree this year starting late October. Stop by and choose an “angel” which lists a gift for a child in need.

MESA Outreach

Share the Table Holiday Food Distribution is providing special holiday boxes of food for families facing food insecurity in the community. Giving perishable and non-perishable items and those with children can choose books for kids and coats for winter. Families are asked to pre-register for this event and must be current clients of MESA's Food Pantry to participate. 

MESA is seeking both food and monetary donations with a goal of serving 250 families. Food may be dropped off to their pantry Monday-Thursday from 9 am - 2 pm, with a special drop off day on Saturday, October 26 from 10 am-12 pm. 

Donations Needed:

  • Stuffing Mix

  • Instant Potatoes/Sweet Potatoes (family size)

  • Gravy Mix Packets (no glass jars)

  • Cornbread Mix

  • Pancake Syrup

  • Cake Mix & Frosting

  • Small bottles of oil (no glass)

MESA Outreach’s Inaugural Holiday Toy Drive; collecting toys for members of our community ages 0-12, and gift cards in any denomination for teens. Toy collections are from November 1 - December 11 for distribution on December 14.

MESA Outreach’s Annual Fundraiser Casino Night held November 2, 2024 at BlackHorse Golf Club from 6-10 PM. Tickets and sponsorships are currently available, and this event directly supports all of the programs at MESA Outreach.
