Loveland’s go-to barber for next-level ’dos and timeless styles, Brian Maxson of Railway Barber Shop has established a reputation for excellence that keeps his styling chair busy (pinball, original art, and craft beers while you wait are big wins for his clientele, too – the perfect blend of vibrant meets chill).
As Railway celebrates five big years of helping Greater Cincinnati look its best, Brian was eager to share a few of his fondest memories. Here’s to an epic five years — and what’s to come for many more.
Styles on Parade
“Two years ago, we performed actual haircuts while on a moving float right through the heart of Loveland,” Brian says. At the city’s 4th of July parade Brian both turned — and fashioned —more than a few lucky tops.
First-ever “BarberCade”
“Railway Barber Shop is the first of its kind in several respects,” Brian enthusiastically shares, “but one area that really stands out is our famous ‘BarberCade.’” Located in the back of Brian’s shop, the Railway BarberCade offers a constant rotation of free-play pinball machines. “Of course, we also have Frogger,” Brian offers, with a laugh. Railway Barber Shop hosts occasional pinball tournaments, as well.
Tattoo Pop-ups
“Last Valentine’s Day, we hosted our first tattoo pop-up event,” Brian says. Local shop Esoteric Tattoo was on hand to skillfully ink a number of sharp creations.
Podcasts

Over the past five years, Railway Barber Shop has handled about 21,000 haircuts. Which means you’ve likely seen Brian and his team’s handiwork on the heads of about 7,000 neighbors throughout the area.
