Marcello Ristorante

The Real Italian Deal! It’s Italian, not Italian American

Nestled in the heart of Thousand Oaks, Marcello Ristorante is a 35-year-old “hidden gem” that offers a remarkable dining experience. Rather than the standard chicken piccata, chicken parm or alfredo this or that, Marcello offers Italian dishes that take you back to your recent trip to Italy. What is even better is that the new owners, the brother team of Edwin and Anthony Khaziran, have brought new energy and vitality to the entire operation and have also started to expand and update the menu.

That’s why you are here, right? Well, me being me, I cannot tolerate cutting corners, and one of the ways local restaurants in the Conejo have cut corners is by serving a version of osso buco using something other than veal shank. At Marcello Ristorante, the osso buco is a perfectly braised veal shank served on a soft bed of saffron risotto. Another favorite is an appetizer that can become an entrée: mussels and cannellini beans swimming in a delicious sauce. Robin thinks their lasagna is the best in the Conejo Valley. That’s saying a lot because she is a tough critic, and she loves their lasagna. There is also much more to enjoy, such as dishes with raisins and nuts that originate from all over Italy.

The service is energetic, and they are happy to see you. The servers have taken great care of us on every visit. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, always ready to provide recommendations and ensure that your dining experience is excellent. The wait staff’s enthusiasm and genuine passion for the cuisine are evident in their interactions with guests.

Marcello Ristorante is more than just a restaurant; it is a return to an excellent dining choice that perhaps you may have forgotten about. Edwin is there every night. You cannot miss his passion for this new/old experience in dining, whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to indulge in an extraordinary meal.
