Structure and Style

Creating beautiful spaces with Marie Vianca Design

Marie Vianca brings a distinctive approach to design, seamlessly blending interior design with architectural elements to create stunning, functional spaces tailored to her clients’ lifestyles.

Originally from Puerto Rico, where she discovered her passion for design early on, thanks to her great-grandfather's legacy, who was an architect. Marie began her path as an architect following her great-grandfather's steps and later transitioned to the interior design world, where she truly found herself. “It’s in my DNA,” she says with a smile. “Architecture taught me how to see the structure, the bones of a space—but interior design gives me the freedom to shape how it feels, how it lives. For example, a dresser and artwork can serve as a focal point, then I’ll use softer elements like accessories to create balance around it.” Her approach is rooted in both form and feeling—elevated, thoughtful, and always personal.  She’s called Southwest Florida home for over 20 years, building a strong local presence rooted in community and connection. Word of her work has traveled far—thanks to client referrals, she’s now designing for homes in places like Manhattan, Boston, and even Colorado.

As for interior designing style, Marie says, “I work across a range of design styles such as traditional, transitional, and modern. But personally, my favorite design style is modern with timeless aesthetic. I also love going outside the box by doing something completely different, like putting wallpaper somewhere unexpected... in this case, on the ceiling,” she says with a playful smile. “I don't follow trends. I design intuitively with intention. If it feels right in my heart, it always ends up looking astonishing.”

Her design process begins with the very first conversation, where she takes the time to truly understand each client’s needs and vision. She then schedules an in-home consultation to see how they live and what they hope to achieve within their space. From there, she introduces a thoughtfully curated mix of styles, textures, and colors to spark inspiration and shape the creative direction of the project.

“For me, it's very important that I spend time with my clients to understand how they feel and what they envision for their space. My goal is to turn my client’s personality and lifestyle into the design that truly reflects who they are,” she explains. “Just because we’re in Florida doesn’t mean everything has to be coastal or beach-vibes design—some clients want something entirely different. But if that’s what they love, I make sure it's a refined, sophisticated, and elevated take and not your typical beach house style.”

“Sometimes clients call me a few years later and ask, ‘Can we refresh it a little? My reply to them is ‘Absolutely—we can update a few things, shift some colors,’” Marie says. “I believe that just like the people who live in a space, their environments should grow and evolve over time. Design isn’t static but a living, breathing expression of a client’s journey, personality, and lifestyle changes. My approach is to create spaces that adapt with them, reflecting new chapters and milestones while maintaining a timeless sense of comfort and style. In other words, a well-designed home is not just a place to live but a dynamic canvas that tells the story of its inhabitants.” Marie says.

Great design is not just about making things beautiful; it’s also about the underlying aspects of the job that make the design work. Marie stated, “Working on a renovation or new construction project, I look at the full picture—electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, to make the design truly cohesive. Thanks to my architecture background, I can understand floor plans and create construction documents when needed.”
