Helping businesses grow

Mark and Nicole Tobiassen are the husband-and-wife duo behind Action Coach business coaching. In 2008, they acquired Action Coach to empower business owners to succeed while making time for what truly matters in life.

Today, Action Coach works together with clients to establish goals and determine strategies that drive their businesses forward. Action Coach helps clients enjoy a work-life balance by building businesses that work for them. One way Mark and Nicole help companies be more effective and achieve a healthy balance is through time management coaching. Their clients also value stretching limited resources, such as time and money.

Both Nicole and Mark worked as executives for Enterprise Rent-a-Car. The couple experienced some of the "best training in the world" with the company but wanted to create a new chapter in their lives. Nicole was a corporate sales manager for Enterprise and was recognized as the number one national account manager worldwide. Mark was the vice president of New Mexico, part of Southern Colorado, and northern Texas.

After 22 years with the company, Mark says, "I felt like doing something more entrepreneurial." Together with Nicole, he launched Action Coach in Albuquerque.

Mark discovered his greatest ability was developing talent. Mark played high school and college basketball and coached basketball as an assistant varsity and C-team coach. His coach advised him to try coaching adults. Mark knew he had a gift he could share. "I was interested in coaching, and I was interested in business." It was a chance for him to develop talent off the court. He says, "I've really been doing this my whole life."

Mark has coached over 1000 businesses and consistently ranks among the Top three coaches in North America. Mark says, "The most important element of growth is a person's personal growth. For their company to be better, they have to become better first." His clients are open to coaching and humble enough to listen and learn new strategies.

One of the most common difficulties for local businesses is employee retention. The Tobiassen's train business owners how to attract and retain quality employees. They believe hiring the right people, inspiring leaders, and training employees are essential for local business owners. Action Coach clients learn how to become a better company to attract better people. Mark says, "Acquire people that become the leaders of leaders."

Action Coach has worked with local clients like Parnall Law Firm, Beehive Homes, and Bosque Mental Health. They have also worked with clients outside of New Mexico, maintaining relationships with some for over 12 years. Mark says, "Our relationships are permanent. My average client has been with me for four years because it works."

Action Coach clients learn how to build a business from the ground up "the right way" first. When businesses develop their culture and reputation, they attract the right people to stay with the company.

Mark and Nicole’s clients say their "return on investment on time and money is positive."

"The one thing we do that is extremely unique, and no one else does, is our large quarterly Growth Club workshops," says Mark. The workshops bring in specialty guest speakers, and together, "we are basically creating a plan for the next quarter of their business."

Action Coach offers sales and leadership training. The company also provides one-on-one group coaching and customer service training. Mark says, "It all makes it worthwhile when you make a significant impact on someone's life." Nicole is a newly elected New Mexico State Senator and is already making a positive impact on the lives of people in our home state.
