Since 2006, thousands of customers have supported the award-winning Alpharetta Farmers Market. Started by a handful of volunteers, the Market has literally grown from a few pickup trucks with produce into a Saturday destination for shoppers, foodies, and bargain hunters from all over the Atlanta area.
Sponsored by the Alpharetta Business Association, the Alpharetta Farmers Market is one of the finest places in North Fulton to enjoy fresh, locally sourced farmers’ products, delectable treats, and experience Downtown Alpharetta. Each week, the Farmers Market offers locally grown produce; natural meat; gardeners with fresh flowers and plants; hand-crafted gifts, jellies, sauces, and soaps; homemade bread, desserts, and baked goods; raw honey; sourced farm-fresh items and homemade food; and other Southern food producers.
Leading this effort is Taylor Yurgalevicz, who works during the week in accounting, but on Saturdays, blossoms into the Market’s manager in charge of vendors, set up, clean up, trying to predict the weather, and anything else that comes up during the Market. Taylor and his wife recently moved to the area and he thought getting involved in the community would be a good way to connect with other people. Taylor has a history of being involved in the community holding the rank of Eagle Scout and volunteering as a firefighter EMT in Connecticut. When the Farmers Market Manager position came open, he jumped at the opportunity. Now, he’s working his second full season as the Manager … and as a new dad too.
When asked what his Market favorites are, Taylor answered “All of them! That’s one of the greatest things about our Market. The variety is amazing – you can shop for your weekend dinner, gifts, produce for the week, treats for your pet, and grab a delicious cup of coffee and a meal if you want.”
This year, the Alpharetta Farmers Market has a longer season – every Saturday through November 27 from 8:30 am -12 noon. The decision was made to add several weeks to the Market after vendors requested to have an extended season and customers wanted to shop through the fall. Also, different this year, the number of vendors in each category is limited so the Market can provide a wider range of goods. Vendors decide each week to participate according to their growing season and harvest schedule. On any given Saturday, the Market can have from 90 to 110 vendors.
The Alpharetta Farmers Market is located on North and South Broad Streets in front of City Center alongside the Town Green. Parking is free in the decks on each side of Main Street as well as street parking too. There’s also easy pedestrian access to and from the Market and all the shops and restaurants in Downtown Alpharetta.
