What prompted you to open a Plastic Surgery practice that focuses on men?
Throughout my training, I noticed how the vast majority of procedures were tailored to women. Once I finished training, more and more of my male friends and colleagues reached out to me inquiring about procedures for themselves. There is a stigma that plastic surgery is only for women. But the truth is that men are self-conscious too; and may want to undergo cosmetic surgery. As more male patients expressed how life-changing surgery was, I realized that’s what I wanted my focus to be. Like women, men also need to feel comfortable walking into an office when discussing their physical goals.
What is the most common procedure you perform?
Male breast reduction, also known as gynecomastia surgery, is the most common procedure I perform. Oftentimes, I perform this as a “daddy do over” by combining this with an abdominal procedure such as liposuction or tummy tuck. The transformation is really rewarding. Many men struggle with male breast tissue and regain their confidence after their surgery.
What age range is ideal for men to come and explore options with you?
Confidence really doesn’t have an age. I have operated on teenagers who struggle going to school due to bullying and adults as old as 90 who want to sport golf shirts with confidence.
