In 2013, professional hockey player Ryan Vesce faced the possibility of retirement following extensive back and hip surgeries, despite his desire to continue playing. Seeking relief from chronic pain, Ryan partnered up with strength coach Sean Sullivan. The two combined various techniques gleaned from professional sports into a systematic approach, which they applied to Ryan's rehabilitation. The outcome was immediate, enabling Ryan to play pain-free for an additional five years. Motivated by this success, Ryan and Sean established Matterhorn Fit in 2018 with the goal of bringing their approach to others battling injuries and pain.
