Meet The New South Charlotte - City Lifestyle Team!

#1 Lyn Coaldwell - Publisher:

Lyn has been a staple in the Charlotte business community for 36 years and has been a publisher of South Charlotte Lifestyle since November 2018. Before joining the Lifestyle family, she helped create, grow and sell businesses of her own in addition to consulting with others to help them do the same. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with degrees in business and merchandising, as well as an MBA from Clemson University. She began her corporate marketing career in New York City and subsequently moved to Atlanta, Pittsburgh and finally back in Charlotte. She is completely immersed in the South Charlotte community and is fully committed to helping promote, grow and increase the visibility of businesses in South Charlotte.

#2 George Zorrilla - Sales Director & Founder: 

After 32 successful and rewarding years in the corporate world, George fulfilled his desire of starting his own business when he founded South Charlotte Lifestyle in 2016. As such, he is the original heart and soul of the magazine. George is a University of Florida graduate, holding a degree in business administration with a focus in marketing.

#3 Carol Long - Editor: 

Carol is a new member of the South Charlotte City Lifestyle family.  She was initially assigned as a Publisher Assistant but her talents were quickly recognized and she was promoted to Editor.  This UNC-Chapel Hill Tar Heel alumna has a background in telecommunications engineering/project management, so she has enjoyed diverging into the creative world of editing, writing and publishing.  Carol enjoys traveling the world, experiencing different cultures, and meeting people along the way.  

#4 Nelson Sweezy - Account Executive:

Nelson has been an essential member of the South Charlotte Lifestyle family since its inception. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University and an MBA graduate from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Before joining the South Charlotte Lifestyle team, he operated as a sales and advertising executive for over 15 years, working for Motorsports Image, Motorsports Industry News, Greater Charlotte Biz and more. In addition to his work with South Charlotte Lifestyle, Nelson is a drum student at Charlotte Music School, a comprehensive school that offers music education in most instruments, including music theory to over 250 students, ages five to adult.

#5 Melissa Latin - Social Media Director:

founder of the food and fashion-focused blog, Charlotte Fashion Plate – joined the South Charlotte Lifestyle family in the spring of 2019. Her years of experience and pure talent in social media marketing, knowledge of the greater Charlotte area and connections to local businesses and organizations have made her a vital component of the team. Plus, if you are a regular reader of South Charlotte Lifestyle, you will often see her recipes featured in some of our issues. Melissa has also appeared on WBTV on multiple occasions, showcasing her delicious recipes in partnership with local businesses.  charlottefashionplate.com

#6 Melinda Burris - Writer and Editorial Assistant:

Melinda joined South Charlotte Lifestyle as a contributor in June 2018 and later became a sales executive as her interest to be more involved in the success of the magazine flourished. She is a graduate of Queens University with a degree in art history and has over 14 years of experience in publishing, marketing, content creation and public relations.  Melinda is also an influencer with City Lifestyle, our digital magazine.

#7 Valorie McAlpin - Writer and Editorial Assistant: 

Dr. Valorie McAlpin has spent her entire career in higher education and retired from UNC Charlotte where she served as director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. Other positions held include, associate dean for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of MD, College Park, and director of agricultural communications at NC A&T State University.  In her free time, she enjoys traveling, book club discussions, yoga, and spending time with her family.
