Recently, I was able to sit down with Co-Owner, Chris Kelly, and discuss the process they have for designing the many one-of-a-kind pieces that they have been known for since they opened their doors in 1991.
We live in a society where we can find just what we are looking for with the touch of a button. Whatever you’re looking for, whether it's based on something you've seen, a mix of several ideas combined, a design you have mapped out in your mind, or a replica of a special family heirloom, Mesa Jewelers can make it happen!
Once the design is drawn out, they send it to a specialized design team, who will in return give Mesa Jewelers a computer-aided rendering. From there, they can make edits if needed to the heights and widths of the piece. After the design is approved, they then cast it, refinish it, and set the piece with the diamonds and other gems to create your one-of-a-kind design. To ensure your depiction is truly your own unique piece, Mesa Jewelers will delete their renderings and throw out the wax castings so that it can never be molded again. All of the work is done in house by an expert gemologist, goldsmith, and diamond setter. Fortunately, your relationship with Mesa Jewelers will not just end once you pick up your one-of-a-kind design. Each diamond piece will come with a warranty which means that “If you lose a diamond, we will replace it for free, all the sizing is free, all of our service work is free” as stated by Co-Owner Chris Kelly. That is just one way that Mesa Jewelers will go above and beyond for their clients!
After you leave Mesa Jewelers, the exclusive piece becomes your story to tell. A story that can be passed on from generation to generation through your family line. This brings me to another aspect of Mesa Jewelers customization. When we inherit jewelry from a loved one, it can be bittersweet. Maybe you have a jewelry box filled with your Grandmother’s cocktail rings, jewelry you picked up at an estate sale, or possibly you were just gifted some unwanted jewels from your Aunt who recently decluttered her jewelry box.
