The pandemic has increased interest in homes over a million dollars around the country, specifically in the Northland, as buyers from across the country and locally found the area a perfect place to work remotely but also a short drive from the new KCI airport.
Candi Sweeney, real estate agent with Wolfe~Sweeney & Courtney, says buyers were looking for locations where they could vacation at home, homeschool their children, and have both parents working remotely. She says golf course and lake properties, along with homes having inground pools were a hot commodity, many disappearing overnight.
According to Candi, Heartland MLS showed that before the pandemic, only 8 homes sold for over $1 million in the area.
"Since the shutdown of the U.S. economy in March 2020, 82 homes over $1,000,000 have sold or are under contract,” says Candi. “That is a dramatic difference as the market continues to have low inventory for homes in every price range.”
Here are just a few notable homes that have sold for over a million dollars in the Northland since the onset of the pandemic — and one that’s still for sale.
