Is the popular trend in home design, that rustic minimalistic Modern Farmhouse, on the way out in 2022? It had a meteoric rise over the last few years especially here in Celina where many homes still boast land stretching far and wide peppered with goats, horses and maybe a cow or two. With so many fleeing the city and searching for a simpler life, the farmhouse is here to stay for the foreseeable future.
A newer, cozier version of the Modern Farmhouse has arrived. People are enjoying the comforts of home and looking to add more natural laidback elements to their interiors. The beautiful simple clean lines of the exterior of the house remain, while the interior gets softened with soft, neutral textures and colors.
By adding natural woods inside with exposed beams, hearths, and oak doors, farmhouses painted with bright whites or moody darks are instantly warmed up. The soft, natural textiles added to sofas in the way of chunky knitted throws and pillows bring an air of bohemian comfort to a room.
On the floors you will find patterned tile and herringbone brick as well as wide plank white oak. Large black-trimmed windows remain allowing lots of natural light to encompass the space. Shiplap is being used but more as an accent on a single statement wall, in a bathroom or adorning a vent hood. Paneled wood in varying designs are being used on walls, like on a stairwell or behind a bed, to add movement and texture to the room.
The perfect white is still being sought with perennial favorites being White Dove or Simply White by Benjamin Moore and Alabaster by Sherwin Williams. But also, deep rich colors are being used to add dimension or even help highlight favorite collections of the homeowner.
While the Modern Farmhouse has departed from it's original starker industrial feel, the bones of the home and the beauty of the elements remain but in a softer more familiar way.
