1. Background: How did you start your business? How long have you been at it?

I began baking as a child with my mother and truly enjoyed the taste and smell of sweets. It was from those memories that I sparked an interest in baking and began teaching myself how to bake cookies and cakes. This is my second career, as I retired from the state of California in 2017. Baking has truly always been a passion of mine. I would say in total I have been baking for about 40 years.

2. My favorite thing is your Bourbon Pecan Cookies. What’s your favorite thing to make and why?

My favorite dessert to make is my Carrot Cake. This is one of my favorites because it is an old recipe that was passed down to my father and then to me. If there happens to be any cream cheese frosting left, I can lick the bowl!

3. Do you have any specialties or special techniques?

All of my desserts are gourmet—cookies, cakes, pies, bread puddings, etc. I truly enjoy pairing my desserts with a variety of alcohols; it just takes the flavor to another level.

I would say it’s never too late to pursue your passion. In the words of Nike: “JUST DO IT!” Your gift will always make room for you, so get moving!
