More Than Healthcare

How local Rapid Meds serve families through their back-to-school services

As summer winds down and a new school year quickly approaches, now is the time to schedule your children and teenagers for their vaccinations, health screenings and physicals.

Argyle and Double Oak Rapid Meds are here to help. Co-owned by Drs. Eric Zahorecz and Sean Fleming, Rapid Med houses a team of specialized ER physicians, physician's assistants and nurse practitioners who are ready to serve you.

These local Rapid Meds offer both UIL and TAPPS sports physicals for only $30. During these physicals, individuals have their heart and lungs listened to, sight checked and heart examined for any potential undiagnosed heart conditions. These physicals ensure the teenager is growing properly and is ready to compete in sports. Both locations also carry most vaccinations needed for back-to-school at various ages such as meningitis.

These Rapid Meds are unique in that they provide a wide variety of services such as x-ray services for sports injuries and a concussion specialist at their Double Oak location.

“We do things that most urgent cares don’t,” Chief Nursing Officer and Registered Nurse Hayley Zahorecz said. “We’re more like a specialty urgent care. We can keep a lot of people out of the ER. We can do IV fluids [and] IV antibiotics. We can do in-house bloodwork and get some of those basic labs right off the bat.”

Many individuals have also greatly benefited from their rehydration fluids and wellness services.

“One of the things I’m hearing from neighbors and friends, especially for their high school kids that are in sports and college kids, is that they’re loving the rapid wellness fluids,” Zahorecz said. “Especially right before tournaments, if they’ve been doing a lot of playoffs or are dehydrated, or they’re just not feeling great. They’ll come in and do our rapid wellness fluids just to get an extra boost of vitamins and hydration.”

In addition to providing quality healthcare, Rapid Med is focused on making a difference and building strong relationships in the community. In past summers, they have held UIL sports physical events and offered free physicals for students. The first summer they provided 100 free UIL/TAPPS physicals, while this year their team gave out 300 vouchers for free physicals throughout the month of July.

“Myself and the manager here at the Argyle clinic, we [both] came from being ER nurses, and a lot of times you lose that personal touch when you work in a hospital or big corporate world,” Chief Operating Officer and Registered Nurse Christy Hardcastle said. “I think here we are able to do that with our patients. We know our patients by name, they see us frequently and come back all the time. Just having the same people here, seeing the same faces, having those relationships… that gives it that personal family touch when you come into our clinics.”

The owners have a passion for serving and training their kids to do the same, which is evident through their strong family values and the atmosphere at the clinics.

“My thirteen-year-old loves to come in,” Zahorecz said. “She’s actually doing health science next year in eighth grade here at Argyle Middle School, and she wants to be a doctor and take over the clinics one day she says.”

Rapid Med provides quality service for the whole family. Visit their Argyle or Double Oak website to schedule your next appointment, or give their office a call. Rapid Med also takes walk-ins that they schedule in when possible throughout the day.
