Mother Daughter Trip!

Traveling with your teen

“Kids grow up so fast!”, says every parent with a teenager. And it is true. I happen to be one of those parents with two teenagers, both much taller than me now. They do grow up so fast and the time seems fleeting. Soon they'll be off to college, out of the house, and I just want to soak in all the moments before it happens. One of our favorite things to do is take short one-on-one trips. I have a son and a daughter, and I must alternate trips with them, or I will definitely hear about it. And the mother & daughter trip is up next, so we are floating around ideas. Here are some of our top one-on-one trips you may want to experience with your teens. So, buckle up! We are going on a ride- with the top down!

There are two local trips I have taken one-on-one with my kids that are sure to please. The first was to the Enchantment Resort in Sedona, AZ. Talk about beauty! This is a great place for you and your teen. There are many activities offered at the resort, such as swimming, tennis, croquet, and bocce ball. But my favorite bonding time was on the hike. We went to the top of the trail and reveled in the beauty of the vortex. With 4 hours of hiking, it gave us lots of time to catch up.

Not a hiker? Neither am I. So, if I can do it, so can you. It is great for all levels of hiking experience, or lack thereof. Looking to stay even closer to the northwest valley? This last recommendation is one of our favorites that we frequent. Drum roll please... the Marriott at Desert Ridge! All I have to say is “lazy river” and you will be hooked. It is the best lazy river in town and a perfect opportunity to bond with your teen. Hours of relaxation in a stunning resort with your favorite person by your side... nothing can get better. And if you are not a lazy river person, there are many other activities to indulge in.

Our next mother & daughter trip will be a big one! We are planning a three-generation trip with my mother, sister, and daughter. Stay tuned for that one!
