In Montgomery County's vibrant small business community, two entrepreneurs stand out for their dedication and innovative spirit—Mic and Meg Wendt. Mic leads Mic's Moving, a company renowned for its customer-first approach, ensuring seamless local and long-distance moves for clients. Meg owns Roaming Darling, a professional organizing company specializing in concierge moves and senior rightsizing services, helping clients simplify their lives and relocations. Serving Montgomery County and the Greater Washington D.C. Metro area, Roaming Darling collaborates directly with Mic's Moving to offer comprehensive moving solutions.

You might recognize these companies from seeing them on TV or featured in local news outlets. Mic’s Moving has been featured on NBC Nightly News and Roaming Darling was featured in Washingtonian for their work as a “move manager.” Roaming Darling is a member of the National Association of Senior & Specialty Move Managers, a trade group that provides training and certification. Mic’s Moving has been operating in the DMV for the past 12 years. Roaming Darling was originally started in 2019 as a vintage clothing boutique, and over the past 5 years has evolved into a multi-service organizing company.

Their teams assist with the entire scope of moving and right-sizing, from decluttering, donating, packing, storage, moving, unpacking, and organizing. If you’re looking into moving whether for a larger home or looking to right-size in the future, Mic and Meg have some tips to help you get started.

#1 Always Declutter First
Our clients who are happiest after a move, “right-size” their belongings. We assist with decluttering expired pantry items, unused clothes, and unneeded possessions. Start small with 10-minute sessions and ask if you've used an item in the past year. Donate, sell on FB Marketplace, or use Buy Nothing groups. We can also host estate sales to simplify the process.

#2 Identify Which Items Hold ValuePeople often think that their dining room furniture and china cabinets will be worth what they paid but often these items have depreciated over time. The one thing that sells well is MCM furniture and niche art and jewelry. Our team can ensure clients have all the information and options necessary to achieve the best results when selling their treasures.

#3 Let the Experts Handle Moving

Book your moving company at least a month ahead for a smooth experience. Professional organizers and movers save time and stress by packing efficiently, often in one session. They can also handle donations. Need staging? Mic’s Moving offers nearby storage in North Bethesda, letting you showcase your home while keeping your belongings safe.

#4 Don’t Wait on Unpacking

Clutter can increase stress and anxiety, as the brain thrives in order to ease mental load. Unpacked boxes make it hard to feel calm in your new home. Roaming Darling’s team specializes in unpacking and organizing, helping you settle in smoothly and enjoy your space from day one.

Our clients who are happiest after a move, always put in a lot of effort to “right-size” their contents. Getting rid of expired pantry items, clothes that no longer fit, and items that no longer serve you is something that we assist our clients with.
