Music and Mocktails is an annual event that has been gaining steady traction since its first appearance at Odell Weeks in 2021. Every year the number of attendees has doubled in size as word has spread about this family-friendly experience sponsored by the Overflow Foundation. The Overflow Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was created by a grieving mother, following the tragic and unexpected loss of her son to suicide.
This incredible affair is a free event that welcomes people of all ages. As you find yourself strolling around Generations Park on Saturday, September 30th from 5pm to 8pm, you will be embraced by live music performed by the soulful Chris Ndeti and Company and rising country music star, Cody Webb. Cody Webb most recently released a brand-new music video for his song “Peaches” which has taken social media and music platforms by storm. Along with live music, you will find inflatables for children, homemade ice cream and other sweet treats, and a plethora of tasty food offerings from multiple food trucks. One of the best parts of the evening is sipping the mouthwatering and flavorful alcohol-free mocktails served by the Overflow Foundation.
Along with this evening being a fantastic free event, it is also a time to reflect on those who lost their lives to suicide and find opportunities to help others who are struggling to stay strong and find hope. This occasion spotlights local, state and national mental health and substance abuse resources to create substantial awareness surrounding the importance of mental health education and resources. This event is always celebrated in September to commemorate National Suicide Prevention Month, and live music will always be an important part of the evening in memory of singer and songwriter, Phillip Lee Jr.
The Overflow Foundation focuses on making this evening a safe and supportive atmosphere for families, friends and people struggling to find a healthy environment and community to join. There is no better way to bolster comradery and create wonderful memories than by surrounding yourself with spine tingling live music, a delectable selection of sweet treats, tummy-filling food truck fare and savory mocktails. Mark your calendars and make your way to Generations Park for a heartwarming moment in Aiken. Did we mention that IHEART Radio will be doing a live broadcast from the event this year? Overall, it’s hard to imagine a better way to spend a night in our wonderful town.
