Five favorites places that bring me learning, connection, and happiness in Gainesville, with Jill Dumas

I’m passionate about serving and connecting my community. I love to utilize my unique brand of creativity to bring joy to others.

I grew up on the east side of Gainesville, graduated from the University of Florida, and raised my four children here, so when Gainesville Lifestyle Magazine asked me to choose my five favorite places it was quite a challenge to narrow it down. As a Realtor, I’m committed to educating and empowering my customers.

University Club:

The first Friday of every month you can find me in the audience upstairs shaking my tambourine and singing along to the fabulous show tunes and popular favorites performed by John L and the UC Piano Bar singers.

Morningside Nature Center and Living History Farm:

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid to walk the trails and watch the wildlife, but the living History Farm is my favorite! The incredible staff makes exploring life on an 1870s homestead come alive.

Hardback Cafe:

It may be in a different location from where it began in 1989, but the legendary Hardback Cafe is still alive and kickin’ in the heart of Gainesville.  Owner Alan Bushnell welcomes a variety of live music, with some theater, performance art, and social therapy mixed in to create an experience like no other.

East End Eatery:

Thirteen years ago when my children were toddlers, owner Sandra Carlisi had the great sense to create a small play area in the restaurant. The kids are grown now but I’m still a regular because the food is always outstanding.

Pofahl Studios:

Anyone that knows me knows I love to dance. I took lessons here at the Official School of the Dance Alive National Ballet while I was growing up and my daughter still attends.  A true community treasure and the very definition of a family business.
