Local winery NABU Wines, owned by Greg and Janet Barnett, located in Westlake Village, submitted their handcrafted wines from the Napa Valley, Malibu Coast and Mendocino County to all the county fairs in the southland—the Orange County Fair, Los Angeles International Wine Competition and the Ventura County Fair—for the first time this year for competition. All the wines that were submitted were awarded medals and ribbons. It was good timing for competition with the Olympics going on simultaneously, so they were posting their medal count, too!
This was the first year the Ventura County Fair had its Wine Competition organized by Steve Holt. Each winery was only able to submit one wine per category. NABU Submitted their 2020 Malibu Coast Sangiovese – Topanga Canyon “Single Vineyard” in the red category and won “Best Red Wine” and “Best Overall Wine.”
