A Night Under the Stars for Our Furry Friends
The Naples Puppy Prom, a space-themed extravaganza organized by Wags to Wishes, Inc, took place at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex, animal loving humans mingled in an intergalactic atmosphere. This memorable event, which combined fun, fashion, and philanthropy, raised vital funds to support animals in need through Wags to Wishes and their partnership with local Animal Shelters and rescues.
The highlight of the evening was the crowning of the Doggy Prom King and Queen as well as the Jr. Prom King and Queen— hosted by the Naples Daily News Paper. The royal titles were determined by a popular vote, with the honored pets being none other than the attendees' beloved four-legged companions. The night was made even more special by the presence of our esteemed judges: Jon Forester, Courtney Hansen, and Heidi Searle, who selected the winners of the coveted titles and prizes from Bark Box.
Supporting Our Local Animals
As an event with a mission, the Naples Puppy Prom was an important fundraiser for the DAS (Department of Animal Services). The proceeds raised through ticket sales, donations, and sponsorships directly benefited the animals in need, including those in the shelter and other rescue pets who have been injured or are in critical care. Thanks to these funds, Wags to Wishes has been able to provide medical care for dogs needing leg rehabilitation, support for a crushed tortoise, dental procedures for cats, and many other animals since their incorporation.
The Wags to Wishes foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was established with a clear vision: to make a lasting impact on the lives of local animals. Their mission is to raise awareness and funds to address the specific needs of animals in the community, from medical treatments to rescue operations.
The foundation’s commitment to advocating for those who cannot speak for themselves was powerfully showcased at the Puppy Prom, where guests were treated to a special announcement: the launch of a new initiative, Plans for Paws. This impactful program offers free resources to help pet owners include their beloved animals in estate plans, designate trusted caretakers, and ensure lifelong care for pets in need. Adoptable Dogs and the Role of DAS
One of the most heartwarming elements of the event was the chance to meet and greet adoptable dogs from DAS. These incredible dogs, available for adoption, captured the hearts of attendees, with many potential pet parents walking away with more than just prom memories. The event not only highlighted the wonderful work done by DAS but also demonstrated the importance of supporting local animal shelters.
