Jessie James Decker is a singer, songwriter, two time NY Times bestselling author, a business owner, a wife, a mother, and the list goes on! Nashville has been supporting Jessie since she first came on the scene as a country artist more than 15 years ago. Life has not slowed down for her, and we got the inside scoop on how Jessie juggles so many kids, dreams, and passions while always being her authentic self.
2024 was quite a busy year for you; new baby, new music, new fashion, new recipes, and more! What surprised you the most in all of the new excitement?
What’s surprised me most is how quickly the year went by. I feel like I was just pregnant and in a blink of an eye, here we are a family of four!
Kittenish has become such a Nashville staple. You have to be so proud of what you have built with the brand! What has kept you inspired all of these years?
I love fashion. I love making women feel beautiful. I love feeling creative and inspired. Fashion is always evolving so there is always something new and fun to create.
You seem to be so comfortable in your own skin; this is so refreshing to see! What do you credit to being so confidently yourself with so many pressures in today’s world?
I think because there is no alternative; except to what, feel bad? I would rather be confident and tell myself I’m gonna rock it today! It is key to not talk down to yourself. There are pressures, but there isn’t one way that is better than the other. Being beautiful comes in all ways!
Being a working mother of 4, what are some ways that you prioritize self care?
Bubble bath and sippin’ on a little red with some music and candles. It’s so important to have that time.
What does a typical day in your life look like?
Coffee first- ha! Kids out the door for school, and then Eric and I head to the gym 2-3 times a week. From there it’s anything I need to tackle with Kittenish, Denver’s naps, music, meetings, etc. When the kids come home the taxicab begins! Sports, gymnastics, basketball, football whatever it may be. Then family dinner, of course, bath time, and family snuggles.
You definitely wear a lot of hats in life. What are ways you have learned to embrace the beautiful chaos of life?
I always strive to balance it all better, but it’s impossible to really achieve. We just have to do our best! Sometimes I won’t get around to everything, and that’s okay. As long as my kids and family feel loved, that’s the main goal for me.
What has been the most monumental or memorable moment in your life so far?
The most monumental moment was when my son, Denver, was born. It will go down in my mind and heart as one of the greatest memories of my entire life- having my three older children run down the hospital hallway and entering the hospital room to meet their new, baby brother. It truly was like an out-of-body experience for all of us, and so special. Definitely a memory I feel like I will remember when I’m an old lady in a chair with Eric, drinking coffee, and reminiscing about sweet memories.
With the new year beginning, do you have any resolutions or goals for 2025?
Not to stress out about the little things, and to make sure I say yes when I really want to and no when I know it’s not necessary!
What’s next on the horizon for you?
So many exciting things are on the horizon! Some cool Kittenish collaborations that I can’t wait to share with everyone, new music is coming, a new cookbook I will be working on to release in 2026, and my cookware line has expanded at Walmart.
