New Beginnings

West Chester Orthodontics' beautiful new space will add sparkle to your smile!

The old saying goes “A smile is contagious - Pass it on!” If that’s the case, West Chester Orthodontics is the epicenter of creating beautiful smiles, both in their work and in how they treat their patients.

A trip to the orthodontist can be daunting for many people, but stepping into West Chester Orthodontics' new location at 501 Hannum Ave. in West Chester is exciting! Their new building exudes happiness! Perhaps it’s the shiny new coats of paint that excite clients of all ages, or perhaps it’s the continued friendly dispositions coming from Dr. Christine Ferrell and her staff. The location might be new, but the service is still the same as it was from day one!

West Chester Orthodontics is not new to the area. In fact, they have been in business for over 10 years! Over these years, Dr. Ferrell has watched the business grow and grow until their old location was busting at the seams. She knew it was time to expand and began the search for a prime location. The new building, located on the west side of the West Chester borough, provides ample parking, easy access to the building with everything on the ground floor, and a lot of natural light. Sitting on a 1.5-acre lot, part of the new location is a preserved wetland, offering stunning views outside the treatment windows.

“I love our current design,” said Dr. Ferrell. “The waiting room is more spacious, the high ceilings also increase the sense of space. We now have more dental chairs to support our patients.”

With a new building comes the ability to upgrade technology and West Chester Orthodontics took full advantage of that opportunity to add the latest advances to the new office.

“Our intra-oral scanners allow us to get rid of goopy impressions that can cause gagging. With that technology, we are able to use 3D printers where we print models of teeth and use them to make highly accurate retainers. We also have a very quick X-ray machine reducing our patient's exposure to radiation. We also offer custom 3D printed braces that allow our patients to have braces that fit the unique anatomy of their teeth perfectly as well as allow for shorter treatment times because of their effectiveness.” said Dr. Ferrell.

In addition to the state-of-the-art technology in the new location, West Chester Orthodontics is also using dental monitoring, which is a mouth-scanning box that attaches to your phone. This allows the office to remotely monitor patients and bring them to their appointments at the appropriate time. This reduces the time kids miss school and adults miss work.

One of the great things about this patient-centered practice is the age range of their patients. Many think of orthodontics and associate it with children and teenagers, but that’s not always the case.

“Our practice is uniquely able to serve both adults and children. It’s convenient for parents to start treatment here with their kids, so they can come to their appointments together. We can help adults improve their teeth alignment so that they can brush better especially if they have gum disease. We can improve their bites so they chew better. We can support new veneers or crowns by lining up their teeth properly and collaborating with their dentist for the new dental work," said Dr. Ferrell. "We currently have a patient in their 80s who experienced dental trauma that displaced his teeth and he wanted them re-aligned. His buddies pooled together some money to help him get the treatment he needed which I thought was so sweet."

Dr. Ferrell is also a top provider in the area for Invisalign treatment, which is a clear alternative to braces and is popular among adults. She has taken many hours of continuing education to properly fit Invisalign and the aligners that support it. The partnership between the orthodontist’s knowledge and good patient compliance truly makes the difference when it comes to Invisalign results.

“I compare it to a carpenter versus a craftsman, they both can use tools but who do you want to build your house?,” states Dr. Ferrell.

Dr. Ferrell truly is a craftsman in the world of orthodontics. Having been inspired at a very young age by her father, Ferrell has become a very distinguished doctor in the field winning numerous academic awards and countless “Top Dentist” choice awards. She is also among the elite few who are board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. She counts this as one of the greatest accomplishments of her career, as less than 30% of all orthodontists take the optional board exam.

“I used to wear a t-shirt as a kid that said ‘I love my dentist, he is my daddy.’ My dad definitely inspired me. I loved how he interacted with his patients and made them feel at ease in a dental office. I spent time working in his office answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, processing X-rays, cleaning dental chairs, and assisting him chairside. I also loved art and science, so dentistry was a perfect fit,” she said.

“Lead with your smile,” is the motto adopted by West Chester Orthodontics and they apply it in all areas of their practice. From the first time you walk through the door to the final time you leave after treatment is complete, the staff and Dr. Ferrell ensure that you are indeed leading the world with your smile.

“There are so many people that don’t smile because they are self-conscious of their teeth which can give off the first impression that they are insecure or not friendly, “ said Dr. Ferrell. “Life doesn’t have to be this way, we can bring back that confidence so our patients can live life to the fullest.”

Dr. Ferrell wants prospective patients to know that there are many options when it comes to straightening their teeth. From full treatment plans for deep bites, underbites, overbites, and crowding or spacing, to shorter treatment plans for touch-ups and less complicated cases, they can do it all. They use metal braces, Invisalign, custom clear aligners, and more.

“The best way to find out what your needs are is to come in for a complimentary exam. I will evaluate your tooth position and give you the length of time in treatment, the treatment modality, and how much it will cost,” she said. “We offer flexibility in your downpayment and multiple payment plans to fit your budget and 0% financing to serve our patients.”

As the business expands in size, Dr. Ferrell is excited to announce a new doctor will be joining their team in December. Now they will be able to offer more accommodations to their patients, especially new patients, which they are always accepting.
