Standing atop a pristine Hidden Valley mountaintop and taking in the breathtaking views stretching to the sea, Nick Jones feels a sense of fulfillment like no other. Surveying the 15,000-square-foot luxury estate he spent 2 years building, Nick marvels at the beauty of both nature and his creation.
“There’s no better feeling than seeing your vision come to life,” says Nick, owner of Nick Jones Construction. This single-story, 9-bedroom, 11-bathroom masterpiece, known as “The Quincy,” sits on a sprawling 20-plus-acre site in White Stallion Ranch. The home offers 360-degree views and features an array of amenities: a custom wine wall, a movie theater, a gym, dry and steam saunas, a cold plunge, a pickleball court, two pools and much more.
“There’s a lot of design and effort that come together to make a masterpiece,” Nick explains. “I’m proud of seeing it all come together from the ground up.” Named in honor of his late grandfather, prominent architect A. Quincy Jones, The Quincy pays tribute to a family legacy of innovative design.
“My grandfather, Quincy, built thousands of structures across California—churches, restaurants, university buildings, and homes. His signature style often blurred the lines between interior and exterior spaces, embracing open floor plans and indoor-outdoor living,” Nick shares. “The Quincy embodies that same spirit of innovation, elevated for today’s modern luxury lifestyle.”
Nick’s own journey in construction began in childhood. “My dad grew up with an architect father, and I grew up with a dad who worked in the trades,” he reflects. “From a young age, I was exposed to the world of construction—visiting job sites with my dad and working on projects around the house. Over the years, I absorbed an incredible amount of knowledge.”
Despite this foundation, Nick first chose a different path, serving as a firefighter for more than 20 years. “Right out of high school, I was ready for something different,” he recalls. “The fire department was an incredible experience, and I worked alongside amazing people. I wouldn’t have been able to build my business without the skills and discipline I learned there.”
Nick spent over 2 decades balancing his firefighting career with part-time work in construction. During this time, he discovered his true passion: creating trophy homes and bringing people's visions to life.
Leaving the fire department wasn't an easy decision.
"Believe me, it was tough," he admitted. Nick knew he had to dedicate his time to building his business.
“Owning a business means there are no days off, there are always challenges that come up, something new to solve. My experience in the fire department has helped me stay calm under pressure, take a systemized approach and focus on solutions to save time.”
Nick takes pride in balancing his career with his family life. A lifelong resident of Thousand Oaks, Nick feels fortunate to raise his family here and have a career he loves in this cherished community.
“It’s a great place to raise a family—safe, good weather, great schools; we love it here,” he says. Nick aims to emulate his role models— including his dad and fire department coworkers— to lead others to follow their passion and do what they love.
“I love being outdoors, building and working with my hands. The creativity of starting and finishing a project is incredibly fulfilling,” he shares.
Family values are at the heart of Nick’s business, from the inspiration behind The Quincy to the team he’s built.
“My dad still works with me every day. He’s consistent, reliable and a great role model. All my employees would tell you that family comes first here,” Nick says. “I have a great team.”
Looking ahead, Nick is eager to showcase—and sell—The Quincy while continuing to push boundaries in luxury homebuilding.
“I feel so blessed to have served my community as a firefighter and now to live my dream of creating trophy-style homes. It’s a privilege to bring people’s dreams to life while honoring my family’s legacy.”
