Brett Larkin, local Founder of Uplifted Yoga and author of newly released book, Yoga Life: Habits, Poses, and Breathwork to Channel Joy Amidst the Chaos tells Bellevue Lifestyle how to make it happen.

What if I don’t have time for a 60-minute yoga class?

A personalized 20-minute at-home yoga ritual is actually more potent for you than a generic group class.

What if I’m brand new to yoga or not flexible?

Quizzes throughout my book guide you to “soulmate” postures based on what you’re experiencing physically, mentally and emotionally. Together we design your most potent practice (flexibility not required) while sprinkling in daily “Yoga Habits".

How can I bring yoga “off the mat”?

My favorite yoga habits: Take a big siiiiigh out of your mouth anytime you receive a stressful email (this extends your exhalation, soothing your nervous system); practice meditation in your car while parked in your garage (before entering the chaos of the house); and stretch while watching TV.

How can I get more consistent at home?

Leave your mat where you can see it. Get on it, even just to lie down. Design a modular practice tailored toward your needs and goals. Find poses that feel so good you crave doing them.
