The guide below will help you find amazing nonprofit organizations and charities in the Potomac community that you can support by volunteering or donating.

Let's come together as one and help those within our community thrive. The essence of giving back to the community is supporting those closest to you through their ups and downs. We encourage you to share these organizations with friends and families so that we can all make a huge impact and create a better world for our community members and future generations.

1. Manna Food Center

Manna Food Center's mission is to end hunger through food distribution, education, and advocacy. Together, with their tremendous volunteers, donors, and partners they are fighting hunger, feeding hope, and helping neighbors get back on their feet. Manna relies on the generosity of the community to help provide the money needed to keep their trucks fueled and running, refrigerators and freezers operational, and the warehouse stocked with the supplies and essential food needed to help those suffering from hunger in the community.

2. National Center For Children & Families

The National Center For Children & Families (NCFF) is an organization driven by a mission to fight for vulnerable and undeserved populations. They value and acknowledge every human being and the community that promotes and fosters their well-being. For more than a century, the organization has been dedicated to serving vulnerable children, youth, and families by providing access to programs and services that inspire their ability to thrive and give back.

3. Comfort Cases

Comfort Cases provides backpacks filled with comfort and personal care items for children in the foster care system. When children are removed from a home, they are sometimes given nothing more than a trash bag for their belongings. Comfort Cases is working to end this practice while providing the essentials for a child’s first few days in a new foster placement.

4. The Montgomery County Police Foundation

The Montgomery County Police Foundation (MCPF) is a community-sponsored private organization dedicated to improving the quality of police service and strengthening the relationship between the police and the community. They seek to enhance the community's awareness of contributions toward public safety. MCPF provides resources in support of selected projects and equipment acquisition and also facilitates the exchange of management and technical expertise between the business community and the Montgomery County Police Department.
