At its heart, The Source of Hope exists to meet people where they are and walk alongside them toward stability, dignity, and hope. Founded more than16 years ago, the organization officially became a 501c3 nonprofit on April13, 2013, and has since grown into a multifaceted organization serving communities locally, nationally, and internationally in more than 10 countries.
Deeply rooted in Plano and North Texas, The Source of Hope has received local, national, and international awards recognizing its leadership, innovation, and community impact. While its reach is global, its mission remains personal and community driven.
The philosophy guiding The Source of Hope is captured in a timeless principle. Give someone a fish and you feed them for a day. Teach someone how to fish and you feed them for a lifetime.
Rather than serving only one group or one zip code, The Source of Hope intentionally supports entire communities across all zip codes, ensuring access to care regardless of background, income, or circumstance. The organization serves community leaders and frontline populations alike, including senior citizens, police departments, first responders, military families, students, teachers, coaches, and individuals experiencing homelessness.
A cornerstone of the mission is honoring and supporting senior citizens, many of whom live on fixed incomes while facing physical, emotional, and financial challenges. Through holistic wellness services, food support, and community centered care, seniors are supported with dignity, independence, and long term well-being.
What makes The Source of Hope unique is its integrated model. Instead of focusing on a single issue, the organization operates through five interconnected programs that address immediate needs while building long-term sustainability. Education for Hope provides tutoring, mentorship, advanced education pathways, immersion programs, and job placement assistance through partnerships with colleges, universities, and employers. Graduates of the program have achieved strong job placement success, securing opportunities with Ally Financial, Citibank, Wells Fargo, Apple, Dallas College, and many others.
The organization also operates trade school and workforce development pathways, offering hands-on education for holistic practitioners and individuals in the beauty and wellness industry. These programs focus on practical skill development, certification readiness, business training, and long-term career sustainability.
Wellness of Hope Clinic delivers holistic health and preventive care for senior citizens, teachers, first responders, community leaders, and families. These services are supported by both local and international wellness partnerships, extending holistic care beyond U.S. borders.
Serving Hope prepares and distributes hot home cooked meals throughout North Texas, while Sharing Hope partners with nonprofits, schools, and international organizations to distribute food and essential resources locally and globally, reaching families in more than ten countries.
An important extension of this work is Hope for the Great Outdoors, which connects wellness, sustainability, and community through outdoor engagement. Each year, The Source of Hope hosts two major community runs. The Hope Run for Hunger Easter Run focuses on food insecurity awareness, while the Plano Turkey Trot has become a signature Thanksgiving tradition centered on gratitude, wellness, and service. Proceeds from both events directly support hunger relief initiatives and international outreach while promoting physical health, mental well-being, and community connection.
The Source of Hope is not government funded. Its work is made possible through donors, volunteers, corporate responsibility partnerships, and individuals who choose to come alongside the mission. There is always an open invitation for people and organizations to get involved, partner, and serve together.
Through its local, national, and international programs, The Source of Hope moves beyond short-term relief and into true sustainability, helping individuals, families, and communities not only receive help, but gain the tools to thrive.
Hope has no borders. Compassion has no zip code. When people come together with purpose, the impact lasts a lifetime.
