“Everything Looks Fine” – But You Still Hurt
One of the most discouraging things people hear is:
“Your MRI is normal. Everything looks fine.”
Meanwhile, you still can’t sleep, turn your head, sit comfortably, or do the activities you love.
If you live in Northlake or the greater Fort Worth area and have been through this, you’re not alone.
What Imaging Is Good At – And What It Misses
X‑rays and MRIs are excellent tools for ruling out major emergencies, such as:
Fractures
Large disc herniations
Tumors
Infections
What they’re not designed to show are the more subtle, but very real, contributors to pain, including:
How sensitive your nerves have become over time
How your fascia, muscles, and scars move (or don’t move) together
How your nervous system is stuck in “protect” mode
How old injuries or surgeries have changed the way you load different areas
This means your MRI can be “normal” and your pain can still be significant and completely valid.
A Different Way to Look at Your Pain
At R3 Physio in Keller, when we evaluate someone whose imaging is “fine” but whose life is not, we widen the lens:
Spine and pelvis: How are you organizing movement through your center?
Scars and surgeries: Did C‑sections, abdominal, pelvic, or chest surgeries change how tissues glide?
Jaw and airway: Do TMJ or breathing patterns influence neck, head, or shoulder issues?
Gut and pelvic health: Are digestive or pelvic floor factors involved?
Nervous system: Is your system overprotective after years of stress or pain?
Instead of asking, “Why doesn’t the MRI show anything?” we ask, “What is this MRI not telling us about how your system is functioning?”
You’re Not Making It Up
If your tests are “normal” but your day‑to‑day experience is not, it doesn’t mean you’re imagining things or being dramatic.
It means we need to look differently.
If you’re in Northlake, Keller, or the Fort Worth area and have normal imaging but persistent pain, a systems‑based physical therapy evaluation at R3 Physio may help uncover pieces of the puzzle that scans can’t see.
