Thanksgiving is a time when many families gather and enjoy a heartfelt holiday feast–but what about people in our community who are experiencing the crisis of food insecurity? Enter All Faiths Food Bank.
Each year, the 35-year-old nonprofit ramps up to address the problem of hunger during the holiday season–and 2024 is no different. Through its annual "ThankFULL" campaign, All Faiths will distribute more than 13,000 frozen turkeys and side dishes to families in need across Sarasota and DeSoto Counties.
“Thanksgiving is slightly later than usual this year, which is why the nonprofit’s annual frozen turkey and sides distribution for Thanksgiving will begin Nov. 13, said Community Development Officer Denise Colter. “We will be sending out postcards to all our neighbors who currently use our services, and our agency partners involved in this effort,” she said.
Funds for All Faiths Food Bank’s turkey distributions are being raised through individual, foundation and corporate gifts to the ThankFULL campaign. “We are thankful to our community donors who make this all possible,” said Colter.
