Finding the right assisted living facility for a family member isn’t always easy, but Oaks at Aiken takes the guesswork out of the decision-making. Opened in December of 2023, this facility offers an elevated senior living experience with unique amenities, daily activities and top-notch care. A visit to Oaks at Aiken shows firsthand how important their commitment is to the residents, not only through their knowledgeable and caring staff members but also through well-designed living and activity spaces and thoughtful ways to include family members and keep residents active- mentally, physically and socially.
Sarah Denero, the facility’s Community Relations Director, is passionate about Oaks at Aiken and what makes it unique and special, saying, “The key to Oaks Senior Living’s ongoing success is working with compassionate people and creating an environment where people are valued. The opportunity to care for the elders among us is a privilege we take seriously every day.” The Oaks uses a person-directed approach so that care plans are personalized to the specific needs of each resident. This ensures comfort, independence and care for every resident with just the right amount of assistance. Providing personal choice and a sense of purpose helps residents thrive, feel at home and build meaningful relationships all while receiving custom care from committed staff members.
The care that residents receive at Oaks at Aiken is one of the most important parts of the assisted-living puzzle but so are the family and community spaces as well as the activities that are provided. The facility itself is beautiful, bright with natural light and offers so many spaces including game rooms, sunrooms, a chapel, movie theatre, high-end hair salon, an arts-and-crafts room, bistro and all-day dining options, library, courtyards, gardens and a walking path. These spaces help to foster relationships and create memories whether among new friends, old friends or visiting family members. The staff at Oaks at Aiken works diligently to combat senior isolation by providing amenities and a communal environment to reach all residents in many different ways.
It’s clear that the residents’ maintaining independence and personal interests, regardless of age or abilities, is important to the staff at Oaks at Aiken. Current resident, Linda White, is an avid bird watcher and a community volunteer who says the active lifestyle she is able to enjoy at Oaks is what she loves most about being there. Her room looks out over the green space, and she has been able to document over 21 species of birds. Linda also volunteers at the SPCA, Audubon’s Silver Bluff Sanctuary and Trinity United Methodist Church, and she’s even starting her own book club at the Oaks soon! The support and care that Linda receives in-house at the Oaks, allows her to stay active in the community she loves so much. Jerry and Patsy Dickey are also residents at Oaks at Aiken. They are able to continue living together while receiving care personalized to each of them. The Dickeys enjoy walking together outside along the path each day. These are just a couple of examples that show how the Oaks at Aiken is a unique assisted living facility that pairs quality, individualized care with active independence for each resident.
This holiday season is special as it marks the one-year anniversary for Oaks at Aiken. There will be a Christmas party for friends and family along with other events to honor the partners who have been an integral part of the success they have had since opening.
