Okito America is more than a business—it’s a family legacy built on the American dream. Founded by Orlando Millan, a Cuban immigrant with a lifelong passion for martial arts and teaching, Okito began with a simple yet powerful mission: to make a difference in the lives of children and families.
After arriving in the United States, Orlando worked tirelessly for three years before opening his first martial arts school. What started as a small neighborhood dojo quickly grew into a thriving multi-service center. Today, Okito America operates three locations—two in Gainesville (Archer Road and Newberry Road) and one in Alachua City at San Felasco Tech City—offering much more than martial arts. Families enjoy after-school programs, summer camps, birthday parties, Parents’ Night Out events, day camps, cooking classes, and more.
Despite its growth, the Millan family remains deeply involved in daily operations. Every member plays a role, creating a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment that feels like home. At Okito, character, community, and confidence come together to help children thrive.
The philosophy is simple: learning shouldn’t end when the school day does. Through monthly character-building themes—such as integrity, loyalty, perseverance, and courtesy—Okito’s team instills life skills that extend far beyond the classroom. The after-school program also offers anti-bullying seminars and personal development workshops, empowering kids to grow into confident, compassionate leaders.
Community engagement is woven into Okito America’s culture. The team actively sponsors local schools across Gainesville and Alachua City and participates in community events year-round. From potlucks and tournaments to educational field trips and themed dress-up days, every experience is designed to bring families closer together.
Safety is a top priority. Well-trained staff, detailed safety protocols, and secure transportation give parents peace of mind. The after-school program includes free school pickups, with a fleet of buses and vans serving both public and private schools across Alachua County. Additional transportation options are available for drop-offs and pickups outside standard hours, offering flexibility for busy families.
At its heart, Okito America is a place where children grow, families connect, and learning continues—whether on the mat, in the kitchen, or out in the community. The Millan family remains committed to building strong minds, confident leaders, and lasting memories—one student at a time.
"We believe learning doesn't stop after school - its just getting started."
