Pediatrician Christy Jensen Offers Accessible, Individualized Health Care to Dripping Springs Families

As the mother of three school-age children, Christy Jensen, M.D., understands the weight of worry that comes with being a parent. She also feels the pressure of balancing a commitment to her medical career with an unwavering devotion to her kids. This inspired her to create Sparrow Pediatrics Group, a pediatric practice built upon a unique model that prioritizes relationships and personalized care, giving families the peace of mind that comes with knowing a trusted physician is always just a text or phone call away.

Jensen was raised in Arizona before moving to Chicago, where she completed her undergraduate studies and medical school, met her husband, and started their family. She welcomed her first child during her residency and returned to work when her newborn was just five weeks old, managing 80-hour workweeks while adjusting to life as a new mom. “It was kind of a blur,” Jensen laughs. “I don’t remember many details, but we got through it.”

In 2021, Jensen and her family relocated to Dripping Springs to be closer to family. They quickly found a wonderful neighborhood, church, schools, and friends, making the move a rewarding change. “It ended up being a huge win for us,” she shares.

Upon moving to Drip, Jensen initially worked in urgent care, but after a few years, she felt burned out by the healthcare system and ready for a change. With her kids involved in sports, music, and school, she also wanted a better work-life balance with the flexibility to spend more time with her children. “My long-term goal was to create a practice that would actually help me be a better mom and be there for my family when they need me,” she says.

“Over the past couple of years, I felt really called to invest in the place where I was living,” Jensen continues. “I felt like there was a need for different pediatric options for primary care because it’s such a growing community.”

With this vision in mind, Jensen created Sparrow Pediatrics, a concierge-style, direct primary care (DPC) practice that provides families with personalized care that fosters strong patient-physician relationships.

At Sparrow Pediatrics, Jensen offers a transparent healthcare model that eliminates the frustration and restrictions of traditional insurance. For a monthly membership fee per child, families receive unlimited visits—whether in person, on the phone, or via video—along with testing, treatments, and medications. Jensen also offers in-home visits, allowing families to avoid germ-filled waiting rooms and long scheduling delays. Parents can reach out to Jensen directly with questions for a quick, personalized response and enjoy the convenience of same-day appointments in her bright, intimate office.

The DPC model allows Jensen to spend quality time with her patients and their parents: “I know all my families by name; I know their kids really well,” she shares. Rather than focusing on high-volume, rushed appointments, she takes the time to understand each child’s individual health story. Jensen says, “I will sit with a family for an hour and talk about nutrition and really dig into what’s going on; in a traditional insurance practice, I wouldn’t have the privilege to do that.” She leans into holistic, integrative care, leveraging the body’s natural ability to heal rather than just treating symptoms and masking problems.

Being a mother herself also helps Jensen connect on a deeper level with her patients. “I feel that being a mom is probably the best thing I can offer my families,” she reflects. “I can empathize with my moms with newborns who are struggling with breastfeeding or gaining weight and just being exhausted—I went through all of those things.”

This compassionate approach is invaluable to families navigating parenthood. “I think they appreciate that I can empathize with what they’re going through,” she adds. “I’m there to encourage them and offer that little pep talk when they need it.”

Grounded in trust and personal connection, each check-up with Sparrow Pediatrics feels more like checking in with a devoted friend. By focusing on relationships and providing top-notch, individualized care, Jensen has built a reliable, convenient practice where she treats every family like her own. “To have simple care from a doctor who really knows your child is very appealing to me,” she says. “This feels like something God has called me to do for my family as well as the community.”
