On the Level

How a local concrete leveling company grew from humble beginnings and can serve as a reminder of the importance of having a good foundation.

Shared Concerns

Zachary Cantrell and Jeff Osborn met over the course of their respective real estate careers, commiserating over the issues that uneven and sunken concrete can cause.

Around Columbus, they “saw how much of a hassle it was for homeowners,” Zach said, “and how it hurt both safety and curb appeal.” In light of this realization, the two partnered with an expanding foam solution from Supportworks called Polylevel® to create SmartLevel.

“Our goal from the beginning,” Zach explains, “has been to change the way homeowners experience the construction process: fast, clean, effective, and done right the first time.” And with this goal, the two have expanded their company all from Jeff’s garage in the 43235 area during the height of the pandemic. Now they have two locations and four rigs, one in Columbus and Cleveland.

Boosted Confidence

By targeting concrete pads and slabs across the city, the SmartLevel team not only lifts and stabilizes sunken patches, they “also cover everything from sidewalks, driveways, porches, and patios to garage floors and pool decks—” Zach said, “basically any residential or commercial flatwork that’s sinking or settling.” Which, for any homeowner or property owner, can fix a problem that would otherwise get worse over time.

The two have worked together through tough times, and the opportunities they’ve given to homeowners to improve their curb appeal and boost safety make it all worthwhile. “Most people wait until it gets really bad—” Zach muses, “but the sooner we catch it, the easier (and more affordable) it is to repair.”

While homeowners often comment about the improved curb appeal and peace of mind they receive from SmartLevel’s work, “we’re seeing growing demand from businesses too—” he added, “especially those concerned with liability or maintaining a professional appearance for customers and clients.”

Trusted Partners

Getting their help doesn’t have to be scary, either. SmartLevel stands by its system with “a 5-year warranty on all completed Polylevel and Nexus pro work on the joints and cracks in the repair area,” Zach confirms, “we also have a lifetime warranty for our two-part protection system and our three-part concrete protection system.” He added.
