Epiphany Cathedral Catholic School's Go Gold Day

Students, Teachers & Staff Shine Brightly In Support of Childhood Cancer Research

At Epiphany Cathedral Catholic School, giving back is a core value. This was evident during "Go Gold Day," a recent event supporting childhood cancer research held, this year, in honor of Hannah Shroyer – the younger sister of Epiphany students Hayden and Hunter Shroyer.

Hannah was only two years old when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma and a brain tumor. Thankfully, after years of treatment, she has been cancer free since 2021!

Held annually at Epiphany since 2018, Go Gold Day 2023 successfully raised more than $2200 from tee-shirt sales. Those funds are directed toward the Tampa-based Children’s Cancer Center, which provides emotional, financial, and educational support to children and families grappling with pediatric cancer or chronic blood disorders. As part of an ongoing expansion, the non-profit currently supports 30 families in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

Go Gold Day is not just about fundraising; it’s about compassion, awareness, and support. It empowers kids to stand up for and with their peers, to show benevolence and empathy, and to be part of the solution: research.

Similarly, the “Gold” in Go Gold Day stands for much more than a color. It symbolizes the intrinsic value and indomitable spirit of children battling cancer. Schools like Epiphany Cathedral Catholic make a difference by demonstrating the power of supporting one’s community by giving back. When a community unites for a purpose, it can create significant and beneficial outcomes.

Epiphany would like to thank the vendors who offered their talents and services pro bono. That includes Venice Aerial Photography for the amazing aerial photos of the whole school, including faculty and staff, and @graphicsbyjason for designing and printing the Gold Day tee-shirts.
